The Pearson Learning / Core Knowledge history and geography textbooks for grades K6 put the story back in history. They communicate rich content in an understandable, engaging style that young students enjoy. Edited by Core Knowledge founder E. D. Hirsch, Jr. and based on the curriculum guidelines
in the CoreKnowledge Sequence, these books represent the only history and geography program reviewed, approved, and endorsed by the Core Knowledge Foundation.
In the year they appeared, 2002, the books were selected by the prestigious New York Book Show as one of the best educational series of the year for the elementary grades. They have also attracted praise from many education reform groups.

Scholastic Core Knowledge Libraries
Scholastic’s Core Knowledge Classroom Libraries offer an outstanding collection of authentic children’s literature designed to support the Core Knowledge curriculum for Grades K-8. These libraries take students beyond functional literacy and shape them into culturally literate citizens.test.
Core Knowledge Libraries cover a specific list of subjects, including language arts, history, geography, math, science, and the fine arts.
There is a separate library for each grade, K-5, and one library for 6-8. There are 160 books (80 titles; 2 copies of each) in the libraries for Kindergarten and Grade 1. There are 120 books (60 titles; 2 copies of each) in the libraries for Grades 2-8. Each library includes a classroom display box and a grade-specific Teacher Guide that introduces the philosophy of Core Knowledge, and provides teachers with strategies for developing comprehension.
