Rocklin Academy, a Core Knowledge charter school in California, consistently makes the news for high-ranking test scores, which they credit to a content-rich curriculum, an innovative school-wide daily schedule and a strong, genuine sense of community. The following press release was prepared and distributed by Rocklin Academy.

Rocklin Academy Scores with Highest API in Placer County

Rocklin Academy’s API of 938 is the highest in Rocklin for Sixth Consecutive Year. According to results released today by the California Department of Education (CDE), Rocklin Academy charter public school’s Academic Performance Index (API) score of 938 is the highest API of all schools in Placer County for the second year in a row. Rocklin Academy continues as the highest-scoring school in Rocklin for the last six years. Rocklin Academy students are also among the highest-scoring students statewide.

“Our goal at Rocklin Academy is to give every student the opportunity to perform at their personal best,” said Executive Director, David Patterson, Ed.D. “I’m often asked what contributes to our ongoing success. We make no secret about our nationally acclaimed Core Knowledge curriculum, which is rich in all subject areas including science, history, and the fine arts. Also Rocklin Academy’s school-wide schedule allows for more instruction time and ability-based classes. We also have excellence in teaching combined with a true partnership with our parents that allows us to reach out to every child in creative and innovative ways.”

Today’s CDE results also show Rocklin Academy with the highest API of all schools in neighboring El Dorado and Sutter Counties.

“It’s exciting to see the hard work of Rocklin Academy teachers, students, and families pay off with such high marks,” said Rocklin Academy Principal, Patricia Teilh. “This API score again proves the excellence and accountability of the Core Knowledge curriculum.”

Rocklin Academy’s API score comes from the results of last spring’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. API scores measure student performance and track school progress based on statewide assessments.
